When You Don’t Get What You Want

Have you ever heard of the phrase – “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”? Absolutely, we do need to plan for almost everything in our lives – we need to plan for our children, for their education, our work and many more.

However sometimes, we tend to plan to the highest detail and assume that everything will go well, but when they don’t, we break down. We begin to find faults in others and in ourselves.

We forget. We forget that when we plan, Allah plans too.

So today, we’d like to share with you a story where Allah claims that He is indeed the Best of planners.

Conspiracy to Murder Rasulullah ﷺl

It happened when the Muslim were making their hijrah to Madinah. At that time, the Polytheists were becoming even more restless with the da’wah (preachings) of Rasulullah ﷺ so they plotted to assassinate the Prophet ﷺ  before he performs the hijrah. So, the night prior to his hijrah, the assassinators took turns to keep a look out for Rasulullah ﷺ so that they will not miss him. Little did they know that while they were busy guarding his movement, Rasulullah ﷺ too was busy plotting his escape. This is because Allah has already sent Jibrael (the Divine Angel) to warn him about the assassinator’s evil plans. That night, Prophet ﷺ  has told A’li (r.a) to sleep in his bed and cover himself with his green garment and assured him full security under Allah protection thus no harm would come to him.

Then, he proceeded direct to the house of Abu Bakr (r.a) who immediately accompanied him and both set out southward to leave Makkah.

On the other hand, the assassinators with full confidence thinking that their plan will work, went inside the Prophet’s house and only found A’li (r.a) sleeping on the bed – only to realise that their plan has failed.

Don’t Get Too Upset When Things Don’t Go Your Way

Sometimes, when something fail to happen according to your plan, it might be because Allah wants to save you from making a huge sin or perhaps He knows that it is not the best for you. In this story, Allah was not only saving the Prophet ﷺ  but He has also saved the Assassinators from making a really big sin – which is the murder of Rasulullah ﷺ.      .Consequently, providing them more time to reflect on the call of Rasulullah ﷺ       and embrace Islam which many of them finally did after the conquest of Makkah.

Good Will Always Defeat Evil

In this story, we can definitely learn one thing for sure and that is – sooner or later, good plans will always defeat the evil ones! So, if you think somebody might be plotting evil plans over your good intentions, don’t fear and hesitate to pursue in doing good. Make du’a and have firm believe in Allah to save you from their evil plan. Then inshaaAllah, Allah will provide for you a way to escape!

Chill and Let Allah Handles The Rest!

Just Chill! Yes, you don’t need to make sure that everything happens according to your plans and you don’t have to plan for every single thing because not everything is within your control. Even if it does, you actually don’t have the ultimate control over it. The only one that has the ultimate control is Allah. Just do your very best, make du’a and leave it to Allah. If things go as you want it to be, then AlhamduLilah. But if it doesn’t, then AlhamduLilah too because Allah might be preparing you for something far better!

There’s actually another story where a man wanted to be a pilot so much so he tried so hard to be one. However, every time he sat for the test, he failed. Little did he knew that Allah was actually preparing him to be an Astronaut. In the end, he became a very successful Astronaut!  So, who knows, you might be going through the same thing too!

Everything is within Allah’s control and as much as we want to plan, Allah’s plans will always still be the best. Remember that while planning is important and much required, we should not be too dependent on the plans we have made. We shouldn’t become too demotivated if it doesn’t happen as we expected. Chin up, make another plan, pray for the best, and leave everything to Allah. For He knows exactly what is best for you!
